To initiate domain transfer you need to provide domain name and AuthCode/Epp code. Using AuthCode/EPP code you can transfer domain to the different registrar or to another nic.st account, in both cases procedure is same.
Please read "How can I get AuthCode for my domain?" for instrucitons on acquiring AuthCode for your domain.
When transfering domain to the new registrar - gaining registrar may apply additional charges such as domain renewal or transfer fee. Due to the regulations by ST Registry - it is required to renew domain when transfering domain to the new registrar.
You are free to transfer your domain to any registrar that is handling ST domains and your current loosing registrar is not allowed to deny this operation.
To acquire AuthCode/EPP Code* for your domain you need to login to your nic.st account and click "Auth code" button for corresponding domain.
On next step you need to authenticate your action by entering your account password and clicking button "Get auth code for my domain".
AuthCode/EPP code is sent to domain registrant email address. In nic.st domain registrant is same as administrative contact. This email address can be found on domain details page.
You can also contact support@nic.st from administrative contact email address and request for AuthCode.
1) Enter your user id and Password in Login Area http://www.nic.st 2) Click "Renew" button next to desired domain.
You will be reminded several times before your domain expires. If the domain has not been renewed before the expire date, the domain will expire. That means that the domain delegation will be removed from the Registry nameservers and it will become offline, as a result the traffic to the domain will not get through. Offline/Expired domains gain status serverHold. You will have 40 days to renew your domain after expire date before you are risking loosing it. If you in 40 days still have not renewed your domain it will enter redemption period. Domains that are in redemption period can be registered by other users. The price for registering domains in redemption period have additional fee, please read "Prices" section for more details. Domains are kept in redemption period for 30 days before they gain pendingDelete status. pendingDelete status is kept for 5 days and during this period ST Registry will remove domain from the Registry database and it will become available for anyone to register on a first come, first served basis.
ok - This is the normal status value for the domain that has no pending operations or prohibitions. This value is set and removed by the registry as other status values are added or removed.
inactive - Delegation information has not been associated with the object. This is the default status when a domain object is first created and there are no associated host objects for the DNS delegation. This status can also be set by the server when all host-object associations are removed.
clientDeleteProhibited serverDeleteProhibited - Requests to delete domain will be rejected
clientHold serverHold - DNS delegation information is NOT published for the domain. This status indicate that domain is offline. When domain expires it will gain serverHold status automatically.
clientRenewProhibited serverRenewProhibited - Requests to renew domain will be rejected.
clientTransferProhibited serverTransferProhibited - Requests to transfer the domain will be rejected.
clientUpdateProhibited serverUpdateProhibited - Requests to update the domain (other than to remove this status) will be rejected.
pendingCreate pendingDelete pendingRenew pendingTransfer pendingUpdate - A transform command has been processed for the domain, but the action has not been completed by ST Registry.
addPeriod renewPeriod transferPeriod - Those statuses indicate that domain is currently in grace period(s) which is provided after initial registration and/or domain renewal (expire date prolongation) and/or successful transfer of a domain name from one registrar to another. Domain will be held in those statuses for 5 days. 5 days after initial operation they will be removed automatically by ST Registry.
redemptionPeriod - This status code indicates that registrar has asked registry to delete domain or that domain has expired and entered redemption period. Domain will be held in this status for a 30 days. After then, it will be updated with the pendingDelete status for 5 calendar days after which time domain is purged from the registry database and becomes available for anyone to register on a first come, first served basis.
Glue records are required when you wish to set the name servers of a domain name to a hostname under the domain name itself.
For example if you wished to set the name servers of example.com to ns1.example.st and ns2.example.st you would need to also provide the glue records (i.e. the IP addresses) for ns1.example.st and ns2.example.st.
If you did not provide the glue records for these name servers then your domain name would not work as anyone requiring DNS information for it would get stuck in a loop:
What is the name server for example.st? -> ns1.example.st
What is the IP address of ns1.example.st? -> don't know, try looking at name server for example.st
What is the name server for example.st? -> ns1.example.st
...and so on.
With the glue record in place the registry will hold the IP address and the loop will not occur:
What is the name server for example.st? -> ns1.example.st
What is the IP address of ns1.example.st? -> [IP Address]
Hide whois info means securing domain privacy from public, It is an agreement with official .ST Registrar where we enter our company registration information for a domain name's WhoIs information, and guarantee your right to a domain name(you are still able to change your contact info as usual), Adding domain privacy has many advantages, Hiding your information from Law enforcement is NOT one of them.
WARNING: Applying privacy to a domain during checkout is highly recommended, the reason is that although unlikely, Some WhoIs websites may catch your data and store a history of ownership allowing people to see your Whois information even after you add the Hide Whois Option.
You write on the internet under a pen name
You probably don't want your name listed on every Domain you have for many reasons, For example, you may want to keep a domain to sell it later, you probably don't want your Name address, and phone number to appear when people search for that domain.
Spammers may also be collecting email addresses from WhoIs databases, Although you do get email sent to yourdomain.com@domains.st, the service includes a spam filter, so you can cut down the spam, and not revealing your actual email address to spammers
Sometimes it is just safer to have your information hidden, If you are running a blog on a domain, and that website gets hacked, you probably don't want a user not familiar with the internet Domain Name system thinking the content is posted by you.
There are countless reasons why you may not want to reveal your name, address and email address in the WhoIs database of a domain name.
For more than one reason, the most important reason is keeping your domain, The ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) requires you to add owner information for the Domain Name, otherwise you run the risk of loosing your domain name, You may also be interested in checking there domain ownership disputes policy among other things.
This is not to mention that it is illegal to use a fake name as you are entering an agreement to provide correct information, this can be basis to loosing your domain in many situations.
Yes, you can simply deselect Hide whois information checkbox from within your Domain "Contact info"section, and you will receive a warning that your private registration service will be deleted from your account, Please be advised that making the domain name private again will be charged again.
Our system reserves domain after it expires, anticipating its release. The instant the domain becomes available, we snap it up, securing and registering it in your name.
Domain name owners have various rights to still renew their domain name even after the Expiration date. This window is between the Expiry Date and the Release and is called the "Domain Offline status". The Drop Date is the most important date, as it is around this date that the domain will become available for public registration, and we will be able to register your back ordered domain name for you.Domains with two or more backorders will go to auction status.
Monitor Backorder status using new section of public area http://www.nic.st/account/backorder and partner area http://nic.st/partner/backorder in Real-Time!
Raise stakes and participate in the Auction if two or more backorders placed.
Please visit www.saotome.st for more information.
You should always contact the ISP or provider of an e-mail service or gateway before you contact the .ST Top Level Domain Registry. We are the last instance and will only take action if ISP's etc. ignore information on abuse.
Please do not hesitate to inform us on any cases of abuse or spam on abuse@nic.st.
