How to become ST Registrar

DNS, which stands for domain name system, controls your domain name's website and email settings. When internet users visit your domain name, the DNS settings control which company's server it reaches out to.

DNS translates human-language domain names – guardian.co.uk or wikileaks.org, for example – into machine-readable "IP addresses". These allow the users' computer to connect to the destination web server and get to what they're after.

DNS made up of many different elements which control different aspects of your domain name:

A Record

A Records (Address record) map your domain name to an individual server using an IP address.

CNAME (Canonical name) maps your subdomains to another server using a server name. Unlike A Records, CNAMEs cannot use IP addresses. Most domain names have many CNAMEs.

MX Records

MX Records (Mail Transfer record) references the server that handles email for your domain.

Nameservers (Authoritative Name Server Record) maps your domain name to the company that controls its DNS settings.

If you activated domain parking for your domain you can manage all of this features by following steps:

1. Choose 'Manage Domains' from My Domains menu;
2. Click on your domain
3. On the left menu bar you should choose 'Manage DNS';
4. Once you set your records don’t forget to Save Changes;
